Tim Alexander

Tim Alexander was born and raised in a suburb out-lying Ann Arbor, MI. Born to a family of a deeply religious backround, Tim grew up surrounded by the music of the church. As the years progressed, Tim delved into the era of modern rock and roll and played in bands fashioned after Nirvana, The Pixies, and other emerging artists of the early 90's. Tim was deeply affected by the death of his Grandfather, and took a break from music.

Several years later, Tim found himself at Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, MI. Soon the ache for a musical outlet came back and Slant was formed. Since the formation of Slant, they have become one of the mainstays of the Grand Rapids music scene and have played everywhere from Detroit and Chicago all the way to the littered walls of CBGB's in New York. Carried by the song-writing of Tim Alexander, as well as Chris Andrus(also of Slant), they have opened for numerous national acts, including Everclear, Greenwheel, Revis, SR-71, Sponge, Bowling For Soup, and Dishwalla. Although rock music is Tim's primary interest, every other form of music is loved and utilized by this dynamic performer. Slant is his primary objective, but does not define him as an artist. In the midst of great success with Slant, Tim still loves to perform and write acoustic and piano-based music, reaching back to his experience as a youth in the church. Though not possessed with great amounts of skill, never ceasing to learn new styles, utilizing his ear for music, his heart of an artist, and pop sensibility is what keeps Tim Alexander at the top of his class.
