Every time Katie day Good lugs her piano to a gig, she grumbles about the decision she made as a 7-year-old to play the instrument. Twelve years and two albums later, she is still bewitched by the sound of a piano and works hard to overcome the portability issues. A native of Grand Rapids, Katie began performing with her band at 16. She released her first album, Box of Birds, during her senior year of high school. In 2003 she moved to Chicago to major in International Studies at Loyola, where she plays the coffeehouse circuit as a solo artist. Her solo album, Leave the Cave, was released in August.
