  • Concert will start slightly after 2:00 p.m.

BRING WITH YOU

  • Your INSTRUMENT (guitar, bouzouki, mando, keyboard, digideroo, etc)
  • Cables/cords (to plug from your instrument into a provided direct box - if you use a tuner,  pre-amp, or other gear you plug into - bring guitar cords for that, too.)
  • Tuner (if you have/use one)
  • Instrument stand
  • An instrument mic will be available if needed

ARRIVAL

  • ARRIVE EARLY!  11:00 - 11:15 should be perfect
  • Sound check for SET 2 is at 11:30 am, laser sharp! Set 1 soundcheck will follow about 12:30 pm
(What set are you in?  See here)
  • Eat LUNCH BEFORE YOU ARRIVE. At least have a big breakfast.
  • Put fruit, some nuts or a protein bar in your kit bag "just in case." Though Wealthy Theatre has a concession stand its mostly carbs and booze. (AND you have to buy it...)
  • Park in the back of Wealthy Theatre, use the rear entrance
  • Drop off your (price stickered) CDs, T-shirts, etc. at the merch table
(10-20 total items on the table should be sufficient, bring more CD's "just in case")
  • Head up to the Wealthy Theatre Green Room to meet the cast and crew
  • You are the party, hang out with friends and relax

STUFF YOU'RE SELLING

  • Bring your merch - priced as you see fit, but please
  • PUT PRICE STICKERS ON EVERYTHING (have mercy on the merch table volunteers, especially yours)
  • DO bring a volunteer to help sell your merch - someone who can answer questions about your stuff
(like "What's the latest recording" or "Can I download this?)
  • DON'T bring an email sign up list - we'll be doing one for all

STAGING

  • There will be Two (2) Sets (set and seat info here)
  • The stage will have two (2) performance areas, one for guitars (mando, zouk, etc) one for piano performance (a tuned Schimmle upright is provided)
  • Instruments will be put on stands prior to the performance
  • You will walk on-stage when introduced and take a seat on the "on deck" couch
You may wish to consider what you wear with the understanding that you'll be seated on a couch
  • When it's your turn (in set order) you will stand and perform your song on guitar or piano
  • The center stage mic will be a "Grand Old Opry" style (condenser) mic. Very sensitive. Stand about 8-12 inches from it to sing.
  • It's your choice whether to play your NEW or your Traditional song first
  • When you've finished your song, accept the audiences accolade and return to the couch.
  • SET END: Announcer will ask all the Artists to stand and take a bow
  • CONCERT CLOSE: All Artists will gather on stage to sing the Closing Song composed by Josh Rose with gathered.

PERFORMANCE TIPS AND BEST PRACTICE

  • DON'T TUNE (or talk) WHILE OTHERS ARE PERFORMING or introducing a song.
  • Banter between songs and artists is fine
  • Don't do the extended version (it's a song showcase not a freeform "Jazz Odyssey"...)
(Suggestion: follow the Steve Earle rule-of-thumb: "When ah stop singing, y'all stop playing.")
  • Invite other on-stage artists to play or sing along if you feel comfortable with that.
  • Feel compelled to accompany another artist or noodle while they play? Don't, unless they ask. Watch the singer to see if it's working for them - if not, bow out.
  • We don't need to know about the hip flask. (Just don't fall off your seat if you use it. And don't sip from it ON stage....)
  • It's a fairly long show - relax enjoy and dig your fellow artists.
  • Play your song "in as spirited a manner" as possible. (Don't "un-groove" it though.)
  • We all play a bit fast when the spotlight catches us for the first time. Take a breath and relax into your song.
  • You have the freedom to do which-ever song (TRAD or ORIG) of your two that you want to do (within the two times through the loop, of course...). You might decide at the last minute to change it up to respond to something someone else did. That's cool.
  • BE LARGE, it's a THEATRE!
  • Oh, yes, HAVE FUN!

AFTER THE CONCERT

  • Put your instrument away
  • Go out to the lobby for to meet and greet the fans (some will stick around).
  • When the lobby clears, pack your merch (if you didn't bring a volunteer to help)
  • Any money owed to you will be paid out before you leave so stick around
  • Pack your gear and head for Mangiamo! (Easy directions provided at the Theatre)
  • If you can't come to the dinner - say goodbye to your fellow artists and potentially new musical friends

AT THE DINNER (MANGIAMO!)

  • Your meal is free - a gift from The Gilmore Collection
  • You guest's meal must be paid for (they can order from the menu or the $10 dinner special )
  • It's a cash bar for everybody (drink more, pay more)
